This project's goal was to explore the expression of curiosity in an environment for my character, using reference photos as inspiration.
The first step was to decide on a mood or expression, and collect images that embody that mood. Then to define the similarities between the reference images, sketch the character and assign a situation to her.
Next, I explored poses, clothing and environments to use as reference and sketched my version accordingly.
Before working on coloring and rendering the sketch, I explored four different color schemes. I ended up choosing the initial color concept for my final sketch.
This was a nice exercise. I loved breaking down my typical drawing process into more steps and forcing myself to put more thought into reference photos and color schemes, and exploring movement and expression.
